Uzbekistan and South Korea discuss the creation of a scientific and industrial cluster in microelectronics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzelttehsanoat Association held a meeting with representatives of the Tech University of Korea and the Export-Import Bank of Korea to discuss steps toward creating a scientific and industrial cluster in Uzbekistan focused on semiconductor electronics and integrated circuits.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadebek Khaydarov, Chairman of the Uzelttehsanoat Association Mirziad Yunusov, and other officials.

The South Korean delegation was led by Professor Yusuk Bae from the Tech University of Korea, ODA project expert Dr. Chongkyu Pak, and representatives from the Tashkent office of the EDCF fund at the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

During the negotiations, opportunities were discussed for attracting grant support from KOICA for training personnel and establishing a research and development (R&D) center. The issue of financing the development of the project's feasibility study through the EDCF fund was also considered.

The parties expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation in areas such as the training of highly skilled specialists in microelectronics and digital technologies, the development of scientific innovations, and strengthening ties between industry and higher education.

The project aims to elevate the strategic technological partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea to a qualitatively new level.
