Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Minister of Security and Public Administration of the Republic of Korea Yoo Jeong-bok at the presidential residence Oqsaroy on 2 July 2013.
Islam Karimov underlined that current visit is a bright evidence for commitment of the leadership of South Korea for all-round development of mutual beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of mutual interest, related to cooperation of Uzbekistan and South Korea in ICT sector, UzA reported.
Yoo Jeong-bok expressed his gratitude to the Uzbek President for warm reception and said that South Korea, including the Minister of Security and Public Administration, is interested in developing long-term cooperation with Uzbekistan in all spheres.
Currently, the Republic of Korea is one of the largest investors and trade partners of Uzbekistan in Asian-Pacific region.
In 2012, trade turnover between two nations grew by 31% year-on-year to US$2.1 billion. The volume of South Korean investments into Uzbekistan exceeded US$6 billion.
Currently, there are 401 enterprises in Uzbekistan, which were created in South Korea. About 88 South Korean companies opened their offices in Uzbekistan.
