Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador presents credentials to the President of Iceland
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ravshan Usmanov, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan with residence in London, has presented his credentials to the President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, Dunyo news agency reports.
Following the official ceremony, a meeting was held during which the President of Iceland noted that the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first-ever ambassador to the country reflects the consistent and pragmatic foreign policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan in recent years.
The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on strengthening ties in trade, economy, culture, and tourism. President Tómasdóttir emphasized that collaboration in sectors such as energy, high technology and digitalization, fisheries, tourism, and environmental protection would be mutually beneficial.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Halla Tómasdóttir extended her best wishes for prosperity to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan and wished the ambassador success in his mission to enhance bilateral relations.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Iceland were established on September 25, 1997. Earlier, on May 16, 2024, Ravshan Usmanov presented his credentials to King Charles III as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
