Technologies 06/08/2008 Uzbekistan to introduce terrestrial digital TV broadcasting in Tashkent, Bukhara
Terrestrial digital TV broadcasting is a new format of broadcasting that enables the viewer to receive higher quality video and audio signals than conventional analog TV, with no ghost images and no noise.

The website said the equipment of Japan’s NEC and Germany’s Rohde & Schwarz were delivered to Uzbekistan and installation of the equipment in Tashkent and Bukhara city will be finished soon. The testing of the equipment also is underway.

During the project realization, Uzbekistan introduced MPEG – 4 audio and visual (AV) digital data compression standard. This is the first such project in the CIS area.

The agency said a group of Uzbek specialists are undergoing special training in Tashkent from 4 to 6 August to get knowledge on use of digital television transmitters, digital broadcasting and others.
