Uzbekistan introduces ban on dismissal due to pregnancy or having a child

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to the Labor Code.

The document provides for the implementation of electronic employment contracts through the interagency software and hardware complex "Unified National Labor System." It also introduces changes to the procedures for granting unpaid leave and calculating the average salary.

Additionally, amendments have been made to the Law "On Education," clarifying the list of educational institutions where employees can pursue evening or distance learning programs.

One of the key innovations is the prohibition of dismissing female employees due to pregnancy or having a child.

Furthermore, government agencies and organizations are now required to independently request information regarding an applicant’s passport or ID card, as well as their employment record book, using interagency integration platforms within information systems.

It has also been established that labor legislation applies to civil servants in areas not regulated by the Law "On Civil Service."

The law takes effect upon its official publication.
