Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan has signed a law exempting citizens from paying state fees when filing lawsuits related to mandatory insurance matters. This decision, made on 13 January 2025, aims to protect the rights of consumers of insurance services.
An analysis of complaints to the National Agency for Project Management (NAPM) revealed that many citizens face difficulties when trying to obtain insurance payouts under mandatory vehicle liability insurance (OSAGO) contracts. Financial challenges, particularly the need to pay state fees when filing a lawsuit, exacerbated the situation for victims of road accidents or other insurance-related incidents.
The new law, amending the Law "On State Fees," grants policyholders (insured individuals, beneficiaries, and victims) the right to be exempt from state fees when filing lawsuits related to mandatory insurance contracts in civil and economic courts.
This measure will ensure more accessible justice for citizens, simplify the process of challenging unlawful actions by insurance companies, and effectively protect the rights of policyholders.
