Uzbekistan and China establish joint venture for energy development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  O’zenergoinjiniring JSC and the China Energy Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) have established a joint venture (JV) called "Silk Road Energy Planning and Engineering."

The joint venture will assist in the development of energy strategies and plans for Uzbekistan that meet global standards.

The JV’s tasks include determining the capacities and types of energy storage systems for renewable energy sources (solar and wind), as well as traditional energy sources (thermal and hydro), considering the country’s needs, power grid capabilities, and resources, while drawing on international experience and local conditions.

The joint venture will also participate in the digitalization of power grids, the upgrading of local specialists’ qualifications to international standards, and increasing their participation in investment projects, which will help reduce project costs and strengthen Uzbekistan’s economic independence.

The creation of the joint venture reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to leveraging advanced Chinese experience in renewable energy and energy digitalization.
