Trade and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kuwait
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Sabah, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is making an official visit to the country on 17–18 February.
The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has analyzed the dynamics of trade and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kuwait over the past eight years.
From 2017 to 2024, the volume of bilateral trade grew 23-fold, from US$289,000 to US$6.8 million. Of this, exports accounted for US$6.6 million, while imports stood at US$158,000.
In 2024, the structure of exports from Uzbekistan to Kuwait included:
Food products (vegetables and fruits) amounting to US$0.2 million;
Aviation fuel — US$2 million;
Air transport and tourism services — US$4.4 million.
Imports from Kuwait reached US$157,700, with the main components being:
Chemical products (pigments, paints) — US$1,000;
Paper products — US$10,000;
Services (postal and insurance sectors) — US$147,600.
As of the end of 2024, there were 7 enterprises with Kuwaiti capital registered in Uzbekistan.
From 2017 to 2024, the total volume of foreign direct investments and loans from Kuwait into the Uzbek economy amounted to US$12.6 million.
