Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The International Photo Biennale “TashkentAle-2010” opened the fifth Art Week Style.Uz, which will be held on 9-14 October 2010. The Biennale will be concluded on 14 October 2010. “TashkentAle-2010” has been organized by Tashkent House of Photography, the Fund Forum and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

Biennale “TashkentAle-2010” will be held at Tashkent House of Photography, the Central Exhibition Hall, the Youth Creativity Palace, the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan, Exhibition of Culture and Arts, the Arts College, and exhibitions in Tashkent.

“TashkentAle” brought together photo art professionals working in various genres and styles as well as representatives of photographic societies and organizations from a host of countries. This year, photographers from 35 countries submitted applications for participation. Among them are Yanis Manzunakis (Latvia), who submitted a series of still-lifes; Viktor An (Uzbekistan) with a series of works called “Life Lines” and Mikhail Levkovich (Uzbekistan) with his landscapes of Chimgan, among others.

The required photo categories include:

• “Man, tradition, environment”. As the name suggests, these will include works of a documentary genre demonstrating traditions of nations of the world, architectural, climatic and nature features of these nations’ environments as well as genre and psychological portraits of people of a particular society.
• “Wings of experiment”. The theme calls for innovative and unconventional methods in artistic photography: computer experiments, extraordinary ways of filming and print, and works that are avant-garde in form and content.
• “The Young and the Bright”. These include works reflecting efforts by societies to contribute to the comprehensive harmonious development of the youth, depicting extraordinary young people, prominent personalities, young talents and their endeavors and bold aspirations, as well as highlights in the lives of young people.

The organizing committee has received 1,799 works from 151 photographers from 38 countries. Photos by 140 artists – 50 from Uzbekistan and 90 from foreign countries – will be featured during the Photo Biennale.

TashkentAle-2010 includes several personal exhibitions and two conceptual international projects from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and Goethe Institute in Tashkent.
