Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Parliament of the Republic of Korea has voted to lift the martial law imposed by President Yoon Suk Yeol on 3 December.
A total of 190 out of 300 members of the National Assembly participated in the vote.
Footage broadcast on SBS showed barricades inside the building, with protesters preventing special forces from entering.
According to the country’s constitution, martial law must be lifted by a majority vote in the parliament, reports Yonhap.
Outside the parliament building, thousands of protesters gathered, chanting: "Impeach President Yoon," "Lift martial law, protect democracy," and "We will win."
