Sanitary and Epidemiological Service halts sale of diseased liver at Chorsu market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 January, a video surfaced on social media showing a man offering diseased beef liver for sale at the Chorsu market in Tashkent.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service responded promptly to the incident and conducted an inspection at the market. As a result, nine kilograms of hazardous products were seized and destroyed.

The Chorsu market has laboratories that regularly conduct sanitary examinations of meat products. However, the seller offered liver that had not undergone the required checks and was sold under unsanitary conditions.

In the video, the man admitted to selling diseased liver, stating that he saw no problem with it and claimed, "Nobody will die from this."

In response to the incident, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service urged buyers not to hesitate to ask sellers for documents confirming that the products have undergone veterinary and sanitary inspections.
