Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Uzbekiston Temir Yollari signed an agreement on strategic cooperation within the framework of the Uzbek-Kazakh business forum in Tashkent.
Within the framework of the document, the companies of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to develop long-term cooperation and mutually beneficial relations in order to increase the competitiveness of international transport routes passing through the territories of the two countries, as well as exporting railroad engineering products.
The parties also signed an agreement on delivery of 5,000 tonnes of rails from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan by the end of 2017.
Kazakhstan Temir Joly and Uzbekiston Temir Yollari also agreed to sign a long-term agreement for supply of 40,000 tonnes of rails until 2020, including for high-speed traffic (13,500 tonnes a year).
It should be noted that at present Uzbekistan purchased 4,900 tonnes of rails from Kazakhstan, including 3,900 tonnes for meet demands of Uzbek railway and 1,000 tonnes of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine.
