Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Rome, the khokimiyat of Bukhara region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Investments and Trade and the leadership of the Center for Development of Investment Projects (CRIP) held online negotiations with the vice president of the branch of the Italian Confederation of Industry (Confindustria) in Russia Luka Picasso, the president of Italmatec, Giovanni Petriccioli, and the representative of Redstar Invest, Antonio Ricci.

During the meeting, detailed information was presented on the economic potential of the Bukhara region, the conditions created for foreign investors. It was noted that according to the results of 2019, the international company Boston Consulting Group in Bukhara region assigned the first position according to 4 criteria out of 5 in the rating of investment attractiveness among all regions of Uzbekistan.

The presentation of investment project implementation opportunities in the construction, leather and agricultural sectors, including on the territory of the Bukhara Agro free economic zone, information on the region’s tourism potential and the Bukhara City project, within the framework of which it is planned to create a number of objects of economic, social and cultural and entertainment, was presented character.

During the negotiations, the Italian side noted good prospects and stressed its interest in developing cooperation in a number of areas, including energy, construction, agriculture, textile and jewelry.

In particular, in order to stimulate the interest of Italian business circles in Uzbekistan, the representative of Confindustria - Russia proposed to hold an Uzbek-Italian business forum in Milan with the Association of Industrialists of the Lombardy Region (Assolombarda) in autumn 2020 with a presentation of the economic and investment potential of the republic, as well as meetings in B2B and G2B formats.

It was proposed to organize a visit of a delegation of Italian business circles, headed by the leadership of Confindustria, to Uzbekistan to continue dialogue with the Uzbek side, discuss joint projects with the possible signing of relevant documents.

It is worth noting that Confindustria intends to open its representative office in Tashkent in the near future (Confindustria - Uzbekistan). Currently, organizational issues of opening an office of an Italian company are being addressed. This, of course, will create a good platform for enhancing contacts between business circles and enterprises of the two countries, as well as attracting Italian investments and advanced technologies to the republic.

The representative of Redstar Invest, in turn, expressed his willingness to cooperate in the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan based on co-investment in the agri-food, industrial and tourism sectors.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached on further elaboration of issues of joint implementation of projects for the production of building materials, the creation of a logistics shopping and entertainment center, as well as the development of livestock, with the involvement of Italian investments and technologies.
