Retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan reach 16.488 trln soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up 16.488 trillion soums in 2009 and grew by 16.6% compared to 2008, the state statistics body said in a report.

About 99.9% of total retail trade turnover in the reporting period fell to share of non-governmental sector and 0.1% to state sector, the statistics committee said.

Share of food products in total turnover comprised 47.8% and non-food products – 52.2% (51.6% and 48.4% in 2008 respectively).

Retail trade turnover of trade enterprises made up 7.162 trillion soums or rose by 29.4% year-on-year. Its share in total retail trade turnover made up 43.4% in 2009 (39.1% in 2008).

Retail trade turnover of trade enterprises in rural areas made up 24.3% in total turnover of trade firms in the reporting period.

Sales of agriculture goods and cattle at dehkan markets grew by 8.9% to 5.617 trillion soums and its share in total retail trade turnover made up 34.1%.

Trade turnover of informal sector (clothes and specialized markets) made up 3.708 trillion soums, which is up 7.5% year-on-year. Share of informal sector in total retail trade turnover was 22.5% in 2009.
