Minister of Emergency Situations: The Gissar reservoir is operating as usual

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Gissar reservoir in Kashkadarya region is operating as usual. This was stated by the Minister of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan Abdulla Kuldashev.

He noted that specialists arrived at the scene after reports of a water leak and studied the situation. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized that there was no emergency situation at the reservoir.

Due to heavy rains and melting snow in the mountains as a result of the heat, the volume of water in the reservoir increased, but this did not affect its operation. To balance the volume of water, work was carried out to release water, the volume of which was 40 cubic meters per second. At the same time, the design capacity of water release is 200 cubic meters per second.

The minister noted that there is no reason to panic. The design volume of water leakage from objects near the reservoir is up to 120 liters per second, while in this case it was 66 liters per second.

“As a specialist and Minister of Emergency Situations, I declare that there is no reason for concern or panic. Everything is working as normal,” Kuldashev said.
