Antimonopoly measures have been taken against price manipulation in the mineral fertilizer market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan identified cases of price manipulation by Navoiyazot JSC when selling fertilizers.

The committee noted that in 2021-2023, the company did not put up mineral fertilizers (urea, ammonium sulfate, superphosphate), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and formaldehyde for exchange trading in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Competition” and the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 18 March 2020 No. 170.

As a result, only 57,209 tons of products were put up for auction, which led to an artificial reduction in supply and an increase in prices by 10-50%.

The Committee emphasizes that Navoiyazot JSC, as a result of the violation, received an unjustified profit in the amount of 20.5 billion soums.

In connection with the identified violations, the Committee opened a case against Navoiyazot JSC. The Committee issued instructions to eliminate violations of competition law requirements and prevent their recurrence in the future.
