Economic Chamber France-Uzbekistan is being created

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and France have created a joint Economic Chamber. This was announced today during a press conference in Tashkent.

The Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan Aurelia Bouchez noted that relations between Uzbekistan and France have been developing dynamically since 2016. According to her, since 2017, trade turnover between the countries has tripled, and following the results of 8 months of this year it reached 412 million euros. Uzbekistan purchases cars, chemicals, cosmetics, food products and other goods from France.

The Ambassador emphasized that French business sees great potential in Uzbekistan and is showing interest in the country’s market, which is explained by the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan.

Taking into account all of the above, it was decided to institutionalize relations between the countries. At the opening of the France-Uzbekistan business forum on 2 November 2023 in Samarkand, the Presidents of France Emmanuel Macron and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the creation of the Economic Chamber France-Uzbekistan.

The Economic Chamber France-Uzbekistan is formed based on the France-Uzbekistan Business Club (CAFU). Chairman of the CAFU Administrative Council Joanna Golas noted that the club was created in 2017 and currently unites more than 40 companies, including Nurlikum Mining, Suez, Eurodmedex, Enersok, Comtechoff, Novynex, Veolia, Thales, Alstom, etc.

Joanna Golas emphasized that it was decided to transform the club into a chamber, citing the experience of France, where similar economic chambers already exist with 92 countries around the world.

According to her, the Economic Chamber France-Uzbekistan will develop economic cooperation between the business structures of Uzbekistan and France, creating a platform for information exchange, discussions and establishing connections. The Chamber will also defend the interests of its members before government bodies of Uzbekistan and France. Golas noted that the chamber will provide various services, such as consulting and support, and will be able to help in creating a business in Uzbekistan or finding partners in France for business from Uzbekistan.
