Memorandum of Understanding signed with the German Tourism Association in Berlin

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held between First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ulugbek Azamov, President of the German Tourism Association (DRV) Norbert Fiebig, Managing Director Dirk Inger, Head of Political Affairs and Foreign Travel Department Volker Adams and Events Manager Verena Grobjohann. The meeting took place in the large exhibition complex "Messe Berlin" in the city of Berlin as part of the tourism fair "ITB-Berlin".

It should be noted that the meeting discussed issues of improving the tourist image of Uzbekistan in Germany and other European countries, promoting the culture and tourism potential of our country, as well as strengthening mutually beneficial relations in the direction of the influx of European tourists.

At the same time, the details of the project to prepare for the Uzbekistan Destination Forum project, which will be held from 11 to 17 May 2023 in cooperation with DRV, which combines about 90% of the turnover of the German tourism industry, were discussed.

The “Uzbekistan Destination Forum” project envisages the organization of “B2B” meetings, seminars and negotiations in Uzbekistan between major tourism organizations and tour operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (50 in total), as well as local tour operators, hotels and airlines. The goal is to direct the flow of German tourists to our country.

The DRV President expressed interest in organizing this project, given the friendly relations between the governments of Uzbekistan and Germany, as well as our huge potential in the field of tourism.

He also noted that, using the capabilities of DRV, it is planned to widely promote Uzbekistan throughout Germany, conduct marketing research and create new tourist destinations for European tourists, as well as organize a PR campaign that reveals our country as the best destination.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the DRV Association in order to further strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism between Uzbekistan and Germany.
