Young weightlifting stars of the continent gather in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 15 to 25 July, weightlifting fans will once again expect prestigious competitions to be held in our capital. These days Tashkent will host the Asian Championship among juniors and youth.
Currently, there is a lot of preparation for the upcoming tournament. The national team, led by Jurabek Zoirov and Nurullo Togaev, will perform in full at these competitions (36), along with about 300 young stars from 21 countries. These days, Uzbek athletes are undergoing the final stage of training at the weightlifting base in Chirchik. In our country there are quite well-known weightlifters such as the world champion among adults Tursunoy Zhabborova, winners of the youth championship of the planet Nigora Suvonova, Sharofiddin Amriddinov, Mirkhosil Mirzaboev.
Teams from Japan and China, which are considered leaders in this sport due to the epidemiological situation in their countries, will not participate in the competition. But this will not affect the competition in the upcoming starts so much. Since there will be representatives of the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Iran, India, who have recently significantly improved their performance in this sport, as well as the teams of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand with strong leaders in some weight categories.
Asia is considered the strongest region in world weightlifting. Therefore, continental championships in any age category are of great interest to the International Organization. The guests of honor of the competition will be the leadership of the IWF, headed by Mohammad Jaloud, the recently appointed head of the International Weightlifting Federation.
The National Olympic Committee wishes our compatriots good luck in the upcoming competitions, and invites everyone to the Yunusabad sports complex to support the athletes of Uzbekistan. Note that the competition will be held every day at 11:00, and the evening program at 19:00.
