Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 4 December 2019, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with the Minister of State for Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Hideki Makihara.
The second meeting this year made it possible to discuss interactions between Uzbekistan and Japan in the investment, trade and economic spheres based on the progress made in negotiations with Japanese partners regarding specific projects and agreements. Having carefully studied the data for each area of cooperation, the ministers of the two departments examined in detail the possibilities of accelerating the negotiation processes, and in some cases, worked out mechanisms for providing mutual support in resolving existing issues.
The Japanese side welcomed the enthusiasm and focus of the Government of Uzbekistan in moving to a fundamentally new level of bilateral relations and assured of its readiness to consider any opportunities to increase the number of joint investment projects of high socio-economic significance, expand the volume and range of goods turnover, and strengthen the position of Japanese business in Uzbekistan.
It was also announced that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan will provide all possible support in matters of preparation for the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, scheduled for December 2019.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on joint work to build a systemic mechanism of interaction that will allow us to work out issues of Japanese and Uzbek entrepreneurs in a working order and find mutually beneficial solutions.
