Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 March 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, attending the 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan congratulated the Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the beginning of the chairmanship in the CFM OIC and wished him successful work for the benefit of people of the countries of the organization, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The sides considered the state and prospects of development of bilateral relations, as well as interaction within the UN, OIC and other international and regional structures.
The officials of Uzbekistan and the UAE confirmed the mutual interest in developing cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian and other fields and the presence of significant potential for this. In particular, in 2018, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates increased by 23% compared with the previous year and, as expected, this dynamic will continue in the current year.
The sides discussed the timing and agenda of the upcoming bilateral contacts at various levels.
