Uzbekistan develops roadmap for reforming tax and customs systems

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to work out a specific plan of measures to ensure honest operation and timely tax payment by business entities by 1 July 2018. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Economy Mubin Mirzayev.
According to him, a roadmap for reforming the tax and customs systems is being developed in Uzbekistan.
He noted that the Government until 1 July 2018 will review the entire tax system. A new tax code will also be developed.
Mubin Mirzaev underlined that these measures will allow increasing the level of legalization of business and population incomes by about 5-10%.
In his opinion, the country needs to create a competitive environment and equal conditions for all, which will create a stable base for formation of the budget.
Mubin Mirzayev noted that according to experts, the share of shadow economy in Uzbekistan in relation to GDP exceeds 50%.
He added that the shadow economy is “the most painful issue for Uzbekistan”. At present, profile ministries are studying what factors affect its growth. Mirzaev stressed that in one year the country will not be able to get rid of this phenomenon.
