Uzbek universities to increase admission quota by 20%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to increase quota of admission to higher educational institutions in 2017-2018 academic year.
This initiative will be implemented within the State Program of 2018 "Year of active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies". The draft state program was published on the website 2018.strategy.uz for discussion.
According to the draft program, the quota for admission to higher education institutions in 2017-2018 academic year will increase by at least 20%.
To implement this initiative, 91 billion soums will be spent, the state program said.
The quota for admission for bachelor’s degree programs in 2017 was 66,316 people, including 18,194 on state grants and 48,122 on a fee-based basis.
