Protocol to Uzbek-Kazakh border agreement comes into effect

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 December 2015, a protocol on amendments and addition to the Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the crossing points of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border on September 4, 2006, came into effect.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the protocol was signed in Astana, on 7 September 2012.
The document provides for revisions to the existing list of border crossing points, including the inclusion of an additional rail and optimization of four road checkpoints.
It will help to improve transport links and transit potential of two states, the Ministry said.
