Director of Astronomic Institute receives French medal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of Astronomic Institute of Uzbekistan Science Academy, Professor Shukhrat Egamberdiev received a medal La médaille de l’ADIONS, the press service of Ulugbek Astronomic Institute said.
La médaille de l’ADIONS was established by the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur (Nice, France). The medal is awarded rarely. The first medal was handed over in 1963 and only 42 people received it so far.
This year, the secret Council, which adopts decision on awarding medal, considered candidacy of five scientists, who contributed to scientific activities of the Observatory.
The Council highly rated contribution of Egamberdiev to IRIS programme and handed over the medal to him.
Professor is active participant of the IRIS (International Research on the Interior of the Sun), which is directed to observe occurrences at the Sun.
The programme was launched in 1989 and the first of six stations in the world was installed at Kumbel mountains, 80 km away from Tashkent.
