Uzbekistan and Japan sign agreements for US$8.5bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Japan signed agreements for US$8.5 billion after the talks of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on 25 October 2015.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Uzbekistan with an official visit on 24 October. Islam Karimov and Shinzo Abe held negotiations on 25 October.
In the result of the negotiations, Uzbekistan and Japan signed agreements for US$8.5 billion. Islam Karimov said that Japan will allocate US$5 billion.
The agreements were signed in such sectors as energy, communication, transport and others.
In particular, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and Uzbekneftegaz will jointly explore new hydrocarbon reserves in Uzbekistan.
Japanese side will modernize a heating power plant generating electricity for the Uzbek capital Tashkent. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Corporation will also build an ammonia and carbamide plant on the base of Navoiazot.
