Uzbekistan to launch two new cement plants in 2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to commission two new cement plants in 2016, the head of department of Uzstroymateriali (Uzbek Construction Materials) Islom Arslonov said.
He noted that new cement plant with capacity of 400,000 tonnes a year will be launched in Karakalpakstan in 2016. The project is implemented by Karakalpakcement.
Islom Arslonov said that Surkhoncementinvest implements project on construction of cement plant in Jarkurgan district of Surkhandarya region. The capacity of the enterprise is 220,000 tonnes a year. He did not disclose the sum of investments to these two projects.
He recalled that several cement plans were launched in Uzbekistan in recent years. He said that new cement plant with the capacity of 750,000 tonnes of cement a year was commissioned in Jizzakh region in 2014.
SingLida with the capacity of 120,000 tonnes of cement a year and Kezer with the capacity of 20,000 tonnes of cement a yeae were commissioned in Andijan region. Ferghana Cement with the capacity of 150,000 was opened in Kuvasay, Ferghana region.
He said that currently eight cement plants are operating in Uzbekistan. Their total capacity makes up 8.8 million tonnes of cement a year.
