Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is visiting Berlin as a head of the delegation of Uzbekista, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on 14 October 2014.
Uzbek and German Foreign Ministers discussed perspective issues of inter-governmental relations in politics, trade-economic, investment and other spheres, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
It was noted that positive experience in cooperation at various levels, regular updating of agreement-legal base of relations help to view future of the Uzbek-German dialogue with optimism.
Germany is one of leading trade partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. In 2013, bilateral trade turnover reached US$591 million, which rose by US$100 million compared to 2012.
It was underlined that Uzbekistan and Germany are interested in further expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation, creation of joint production capacities with use of German technologies and preferences, provided by the Uzbek side to foreign investors.
The sides also considered priority directions of expanding contacts in cultural-humanitarian sphere.
The sides exchanged opinion on actual international and regional issues, including settlement of situation in Afghanistan.
After the talks, the ministers signed a protocol on introduction of changes and amendments to agreement between Uzbekistan and Germany on avoiding double taxation in relation to taxes on income and property from 7 September 1999.
On the same day, the delegation of Uzbekistan participated in political consultation with Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Cord Meier-Klodt.
