Over 8,100 NGOs work in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of non-governmental and non-commercial organizations (NGOs) in Uzbekistan grew by 16% in past period of 2014 to 8,100, the press service of Ministry of Justice.
The ministry said that number of the NGOs made up about 7,000 in 2013, while their number exceeds 8,100, which rose by 16%.
Over 220 of them operate in healthcare sector, over 150 – in education sector, over 280 – supporting activities of women, over 640 – youth, over 500 – people with disabilities, over 1,800 – entrepreneurship, over 1,000 – developing sport and 57- - democratic institutes. They help to develop corresponding sectors in Uzbekistan.
