Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov stated that it is pity that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko did not arrive in Minsk, Belarus, to attend the CIS summit. He noted that there is impression that Petro Poroshenko cannot make his mind if he needs this union, RIA Novosti reported.
Uzbek leader said that one gets impression that he splits and cannot decide if Ukraine should leave CIS or not.
“If Mr. Poroshenko had not missed the opportunity to meet us and had provided his vision of the events in Ukraine, this would make the situation a lot more clear to us… But this did not happen,” Karimov said at the plenary session of the CIS summit.
“Who among us have had the opportunity to see Mr. Poroshenko face to face recently? Very few. But he found time to visit Brussels in Belgium several times, as well as several other countries, which I would not like to name,” Karimov said. He added that Poroshenko did not use opportunity to visit Minsk and participate in the CIS summit.
Islam KArimov said that it is difficult to agree with the decision of Poroshenko. “We are confident that refusal from force as a means of settling all the problems, use of political means based on the international law and the UN Charter, as well as unconditional fulfillment of Minsk agreements on ceasefire and truce by the parties, not in words but in deeds, can create necessary conditions for the negotiation process on achieving peace in Ukraine,” Karimov added.
