Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine completed implementation of the first stage of the project “Reconstruction of crushing and grinding departments of copper concentrating mill”.
The project is aimed at increasing enrichment capacities on combine in connection with growth of mining of copper-molybdenum ore, modernizing and upgrading copper concentrating mill, as well as partial replacement of old crushing and enrichment equipment.
The project envisages that the reconstruction of crushing and grinding departments of copper concentrating mill will be modernized in two stages. Within the first stage, it was planned to install two ball mills of the second stage of grinding at the crushing and enrichment complex, which will expand ore processing by 0.8 million tonnes a year. The first stage with the cost of US$20 million was successfully completed in 2013.
The second stage envisages construction of new complex of ore preparation with bunker and jaw crusher, warehouse for large ores, one mill, two ball mills, two pump hydrocyclone facilities, conveyer gallery, and slurry pipeline.
Within the project, AGMK and Tyajmash (Russia) signed a contract for developing documentation and technological regulation, supply of equipment, assembly, supervision and commissioning works.
The financing on the project was opened and advanced payments were made. Currently, the first party of equipment was supplied. It is planned to complete the project and reach designed capacity of the plant in 2015.
The project implementation will help to increase the volume of processed ores, production of cathode copper and precious metals, as well as decreases exploitation expenses.
The project with the cost of US$118 million will help to increase capacities of the combine on processing ore by 6 million tonnes to 37 million tonnes. It is planned to eliminate old capacities for 1.8 million tonnes.
The project is financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$80 million, loan of Ipoteka Bank – US$32 million and own funds of AKMK – US$6 million.
