Economy of Tashkent region grows by 7.8% in 2013

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of gross regional product (GRP) of Tashkent region grew by 7.8% in 2013, the session of Council of MP’s said.
The volume of industrial production rose by 11.6%, agriculture output – 5.9%, construction works – 14.1%, services – 15.4% and retail turnover – 14.8%.
Within the programme on development of industrial potential of Tashkent region for 2013-2015, approved by the President of Uzbekistan from 12 July 2013, some 188 projects were implemented. In the result, the share of industry in the GRP reached 8.1%, UzA reported.
The volume of investments, used within investment programme in production sphere, also grew. About 72 projects were implemented in production sphere.
The region created over 85,000 new jobs in 2013, of which 70% were created in rural areas. About 30,000 young people, who graduated colleges, were provided with jobs.
Over 523.98 billion soums were directed to implementation of the state programme “The Year of Well-being and Prosperity” in 2013.
