NGMK to begin construction of sulphuric acid plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (NGMK) will start construction of new plant on production of sulphuric acid in 2014.
The project included to the investment programme. NGMK is planning to complete preparation of the feasibility study of the project in the middle of 2014 and begin construction of the plant in the third quarter of 2014.
NGMK was planning to start to realize the project with the cost of US$125 million in 2012, but the project was suspended due to irrationality of its implementation.
The project envisages construction of new capacities on production of sulphuric acid with the capacity of 500,000 tonnes a year, which will satisfy demand of uranium production due to launch of new uranium fields and expansion of resource base.
The plant will be constructed within two years. The project will be financed due to own resources of the NGMK. Currently, the capacities of existing plant on production of sulphuric acid of NGMK make up 450,000 tonnes a year.
Earlier, it was reported that NGMK is planning to complete construction of three uranium mines in Central Kyzylkum, which will allow to increase uranium production of the combine by 40% by 2015.
