KOICA holds final conference on electricity distribution project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) held a final conference on project “Master plan on decreasing losses at electricity distribution and testing automated meters (AMR)” in Tashkent on 19 December 2013.
Representatives of the KOICA, KEPCO, KEPCOKND and other Korean organizations participated in the conference, which was held in the Uzbek capital.
Currently, the electricity losses in Uzbekistan make up 25% due to deterioration of equipment and problems with the work of the meters. This figure makes up 3.7% in South Korea. This requires adoption of strategy and introduction of technologies to cut electricity losses.
Within no-string aid project “Master plan on decreasing losses at electricity distribution and testing automated meters (AMR)”, KOICA holds consultation on decreasing electricity losses at distribution lines.
Besides, the Government of Uzbekistan supports introduction of the AMR system and it put a task to expand scale of introduction of the system. Through realization of the project, the KOICA hopes for technical exchange between South Korea and Uzbekistan in this area and expand cooperation between two nations, as well as contribute to introduction of AMR system in Uzbekistan.
The project has been started from intergovernmental session, which was held in November 2013. Within the projects, about 3,000 electricity meters with distance data reading systems were installed in such settlements as Karmana, Hazara, Malikrabat and Dorman of Navoi region. The project organizers hope that the losses of electricity will be less than 10% in these districts and further it will contribute to develop technical base in this sphere.
On 6 August 2013, the Korean specialists met representatives of Uzbekenergo and other organizations, specializing in electricity. During the meetings, the sides considered a master plan and action plant on decreasing loss of electricity.
The sides also discussed issues of preventing non-technical losses of electricity, wider use of new technologies, and proposals on improving quality of use of equipment.
During the conference, a report on the results of carried out works for past period and final version of the master plan.
