Tashkent starts to introduce GPS-monitoring in public transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent started to introduce system on GPS-monitoring of movement of public transport, head of department of monitoring of Toshhshartranshizmat Kirill Bokatov told ICTNEWS.
According to Kirill Bokatov, GPS-sensors were installed at 95 buses of eight routes in Tashkent. Till the end of 2014, all city buses will be equipped with the GPS-sensors, which will transfer data via mobile communication.
The testing of the system on remote control of the movement of public transport is conducted by Toshshahartranshizmat in cooperation with VIA-Tashkent.
Currently, the system is tested at bus routes No. 22 (Aviasozla-SUM), No. 72 (Avisozlar-Yunusabad-12), No. 149 (Yunusabad-6 – Karasu-1), N. 2 (Chilanzar-25 – Ekskavator Plant), No. 51 (Yunusabad-6 – Dombrabad).
Bokatov underlined that both large (Mercedes-Benz) and medium (Isuzu) capacity buses are participating in the testing. He said that the most demanded routes from eight bus fleets were selected to testing. He said that all buses will have GPS-sensors by the end of 2014.
The system allows to control location and interval of movement, as well as receive data of the work of buses, speed, etc.
Automated system on management of passenger transportation system will be created at GPS-monitoring system. It is planned to launch it in 2015.
According to the decision of the Government, Toshtransdispetcherhixmat will be created in Tashkent, which will regulate movement of public transport in real time.
