Uzbekistan sets volumes on agriculture goods production

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On forecast parameters of production and use of vegetables and fruits products, potatoes, melons and grape for 2014” on 20 November 2013.
The document approved forecast parameters of production and use of vegetables and fruits products, potatoes, melons and grape for 2014.
According to the resolution, Uzbekistan plans to manufacture 8.88 million tonnes of vegetables and 2.398 million tonnes of potatoes.
In line with the forecast of the government, the farmers will produce 1.594 million tonnes of melons, 2.472 million tonnes of fruits and 1.262 million tonnes of grapes.
The resolution said that about 7.106 million tonnes of vegetables will be directed to satisfy demand of population and 1.401 million tonnes – to industrial processing, while 162,000 tonnes will be used as seeds. The exports of vegetables will make up 210,000 tonnes.
Over 2.056 million tonnes of potatoes will be delivered to population and 341,800 will be used as seeds in 2014.
Main part of melons (1.439 million tonnes) will be used to satisfy demands of population. About 99,000 tonnes of melons will be exported and 1,800 tonnes will be processed. Some 54,000 will be used as seeds.
In 2014, the population will receive 1.867 million tonnes of fruits and 924,800 tonnes of grapes. The exports of fruits will make up 91,000 tonnes and grapes – 100,000 tonnes.
About 514,000 tonnes of fruits and 337,700 tonnes of grapes will be processed at industrial enterprises of Uzbekistan next year, the document said.
