Uzbekistan to introduce electronic postal stamps

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will introduce electronic postal stamps into circulation soon.
State Committee of communication, information and telecommunication technologies of Uzbekistan issued a resolution on 22 November, which approved a regulation on state symbols of postal payment.
The new regulation determines order of publication, issue to circulation and abolishment of stamps, order, dissemination and sales of postal stamps.
State symbols of postal payment are used as payment for postal services, which are sent within the country and abroad.
The document said that the postal stamps should meet requirements of Universal Postal Convention, Constitution of Uzbekistan and legislative acts.
The regulation said that the stamps should reflect cultural and historic heritage of people, living in Uzbekistan, flora and fauna, achievement of the country in various directions, etc.
The regulation also includes norms on electronic stamps. The document said that the electronic stamps are used in sending letters.
The stamps, in form of bar codes, confirm payment of postal services. The electronic stamps can be used in sending letters, postal cards, and parcels.
The electronic stamps will have unique identification number and contain necessary information on letter, postal card or parcel.
According to the document, Uzbekistan Pochtasi open joint stock company will disseminate electronic stamps in Uzbekistan.
The stamps can be purchased via Internet. It is printed at envelope with help of standard software.
