Uzbekistan plans to supply 100,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers a year to China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to export 100,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers a year to the market of China, RIA Novosti reported quoting the source, close to the negotiations process.
The report said that the Uzbek and Chinese company started negotiations on basic terms of supplies. The source said that preliminary agreements on supply of potash fertilizers between two sides were reached during the visit of the Chinese President Xi Jinping into Uzbekistan in early September 2013. The framework agreement can be signed in early 2014.
The source said that the price of the first “firm” contracts can be tied to the liabilities of the Government of Uzbekistan on repayment of the Chinese loans, attracted to construction of Dehkanabad potash fertilizers plant.
Dehkanabad potash fertilizers plant with the capacity of 200,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers a year was commissioned in September 2010. The project cost is US$123.7 million. Russia’s Zapodnouralskiy Machinjstroitelniy Kontsern and China’s CITIC Pacific Ltd participated in construction of the plant.
Uzbekkimyosanoat is planning to construct the second line of the plant with the cost of US$254.5 million by the end of 2013. It will help to increase its capacity three times to 600,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers a year. Zapodnouralskiy Machinjstroitelniy Kontsern and China’s CITIC Pacific Ltd are implementing the projects. The Chinese Eximbank issued about US$150 million to construction of the plant.
