Uzbek students win medals at Chemistry Olympiad in Moscow

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Moscow state university named after Lomonosov hosted the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad among school students on 15-24 July 2013.
The event attracted over 290 participants from 77 countries. Among them were members of the Kelajak Ovozi, which study at academic lyceums in Tashkent and Urgench. They were supported by Fund Forum, Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia, Ministry of higher and secondary education of Uzbekistan.
At the Olympiad, the Uzbek students won a gold and two bronze medals. The Olympiad consisted of theoretical and experimental rounds.
Bekzod Boltaev of the academic lyceum of the Tashkent Paediatric Medical Institute won a gold medal. Dilshoda Artikbayeva and Biloliddin Sharobiddinova of Academic Lyceum named after Sirojiddinova under the National University of Uzbekistan claimed bronze medals.
Piter Waters (Great Britain), chairperson of International Olympic committee on chemistry, said: “We are happy to see representatives of Uzbekistan for the first time among the participants of the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad.” He said that the Uzbek students demonstrated high results, which shows educational potential of Uzbekistan.
President of the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad and dean of the chemistry faculty of the Moscow State University Valeriy Lunin said that Uzbek teams has been showing high results at chemistry competitions in international arena. He said that attention to development of science and positive experience of organization of large educational events are giving its fruits.
