Development of women entrepreneurship discussed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mehr Nuri Foundation in cooperation with Forum of Social Responsible Citizens of Uzbekistan, Women’s Committee, Mahalla Foundation and regional branches of the Center for Youth Initiatives “Kelajak Ovozi” held several roundtables “Perspectives of development of women entrepreneurship in the regions” from 25 June to 6 July 2013 in all regions of Uzbekistan.
The roundtables were aimed at discussing organizational and economic aspects of development women entrepreneurship in the regions of Uzbekistan, preparing list of concrete measures on developing women entrepreneurship in rural areas.
Grant receivers and participants of new projects of Mehr Nuri Foundation, representatives of Women’s Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Forum of Social Responsible Citizens of Uzbekistan, Businesswomen Association of Uzbekistan, state bodies and businesses participated at the events.
The roundtables discussed experience of NGOs in development of women entrepreneurship, opportunities and preference provided by law “On family entrepreneurship”, role of self-governing bodies in development of family business and women entrepreneurship, etc.
Representatives of the State Tax Committee briefed the participants on opportunities and preferences, provided by the “On family entrepreneurship”, including protection of founders of the company and employees, guarantee of protection of their activities and others.
The participants also received opportunities on receiving credits from financial institutions and new business ideas. Mehr Nuri Foundation offered to create craftsmen shops in the regions, which would train women, who want to launch own family business. The participants supported the idea.
The participants of the programme “Grants for development of family business” of Mehr Nuri Foundation presented their business plans and shared their experience. They also received recommendations from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and successful businesspersons.
From 1 March to 1 May 2013, Mehr Nuri Foundation received documents for annual programme “Grants on developing family entrepreneurship activities”. The foundation received 500 applications from all regions of Uzbekistan. The winners will receive 1.5 million soums to develop their business activities. The foundation organized 1,200 master classes for women and familiarized with grant programme and learnt to write business plans.
