Uzbekenergo completes construction of high voltage electricity line

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo state joint stock company completed construction of high voltage electricity line 500 kilovolt “Talimarjan thermal power station – Sogdiana substation” (southern Uzbekistan) with the cost of US$120 million.
RIA Novosti reported quoting source of the company that the construction of line has been completed and it is planned to complete network infrastructure. The line will be commissioned into commercial exploitation in September.
The project envisages construction of high voltage line with the length of 218 km and open distribution facility 500/220 kilowatt at Talimarjan thermal power station.
The project with the cost of US$166.8 million is financed due to loan of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for US$110 million and own resources of Uzbekenergo.
The Uzbek side was able to save US$46 million of issued loans of IBRD due to localization of technical equipment. Currently, Uzbekenergo develops new projects, which will be financed due to saved resources.
Construction of high voltage line 500 kilovolt “Talimarjan thermal power station – Sogdiana substation” is a part of project on modernization of Talimarjan thermal power station. Uzbekenergo is planning to launch construct two combined-cycle plants with the capacity of 450 megawatt with the cost of US$1.28 billion.
