Uzbek, Japanese officials discuss ties in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting with the Deputy Director General of Bureau on European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeshi Hikihara on 7 June 2013.
At the meeting, the sides considered current state and perspectives of the Uzbek-Japanese dialogue in various areas, and international problems, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
The sides underlined that bilateral relations are developing gradually in spirit of the joint statement on friendship, strategic partnership and cooperation, signed in 2002.
The sides stated that both sides consider implementation of agreements, reached in February 2011 in Tokyo, as a priority. It was noted that official visit of the President Islam Karimov to Japan gave strong impulse to bilateral relations and filled cooperation with new practical content.
On 7 June, next round of consultation between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Japan was held.
The sides considered issues on gradual expanding constructive interaction on wide-range of issues in politics, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian spheres, development of legal base.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Fumihiko Kato participated at the meeting.
