Uzbekistan adopts measures to prevent human trafficking crimes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan pays great attention to preventing potential victims of human trafficking, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Dilyor Khakimov said at the session of the UN General Assembly dedicated too implementation of global action plan of the UN on combating human trafficking.
Uzbek envoy said that Uzbekistan publishes and disseminates manuals, methodical book and booklets, the UN News Center said.
He said that special posters and banners are placed at bus, railway and air stations, state borders and public places.
Dilyor Khakimov also attracted attention to social rehabilitation of human trafficking victims. He briefed the participants on law of Uzbekistan “On preventing human trafficking”. He said that the law includes clause, which provides social, legal, psychological, medical and professional aid to victims of human trafficking.
The envoy underlined that resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov “On measures on increasing efficiency of fighting with human trafficking” from 2008 determined concrete measures on creation specialized establishments on rendering aid and protecting victims.
He said that created establishments serve as important tool for rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking and returning them to normal life.
Dilyor Khakimov underlined that in last 20 years, Uzbekistan signed over 30 bilateral agreements and treaties on fighting organized crime, including human trafficking. He added that Uzbekistan will continue to contribute to efforts of combating human trafficking.
