Uzbek delegation attends UN events in New York

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations headquarters hosted an interactive dialogue of the General Assembly “Harmony with Nature”, which was dedicated to International Earth Day, Jahon news agency reported.
Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General, attracted attention of the participants to global ecologic and man-caused threats to the planet and called to confirm collective responsibility to strengthen harmony with nature.
The UN member states underlined that activities of human on the Earth and excessive use of natural resources resulted in significant growth of greenhouse gas concentration to atmosphere, damage of ecologic system, exhaustion of ozone layer and biologic diversity.
The participants considers way of solving actual ecologic problems such as environment pollution, soil degradation, waste utilization and said that effective policy in this direction requires international cooperation.
On the same day, high level meeting “Sustainable energy for all” was held in New York. The event was dedicated to introduce alternative sources of energy and ensure wide-scale access to energy resources.
The participants underlined necessity to unite efforts of the governments, private sector and public organizations for achievement of important goals in use of renewable energy.
The delegation of Uzbekistan participated at the events and presented a report on measures directed at preserving natural balance, transfer to green economy, introduction of ecologic clean technologies and produce renewable energy.
It was said that Uzbekistan adopted measures on further developing alternative sources of energy. Uzbekistan also announced plans to hold an international conference on renewable energy in Tashkent city.
