China invest US$4bn into Uzbekistan – envoy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of Chinese investments into Uzbekistan currently exceeds US$ billion, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Xiao said in an interview to UzA.
He said that China is one of largest trade and investment partners of Uzbekistan. China is also is main supplier of telecommunication and melioration equipment to Uzbekistan.
Zhang Xiao said that according to data of Chinese customs service, trade turnover between two states made up US$1.386 billion, which is 42.4% more year-on-year.
Envoy said that Uzbekistan and China announced a joint declaration on establishing of strategic partnership during the official visit of Uzbek President Islam Karimov to China in June 2012. The sides also inked important documents on trade-economic and investment cooperation for over US$5 billion.
He added that intergovernmental committee on cooperation between China and Uzbekistan started its work and six subcommittees, responsible for development of partnership in trade-economy, energy, transport, scientific-technical security areas, were set up, he added.
Chinese Ambassador said that this created conditions and opportunities for single planning and coordination of cooperation in all areas.
