Uzbekistan produces 662,000 units of energy saving lamps

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan produced 662,000 units of energy saving lamps in 2011, which grew by 5.5% compared to 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In September 2010, the Uzbek-British joint venture Neo Sun Light on production of energy saving lamps has been launched.
It was the first enterprise on production of energy saving lamps in Central Asia. The enterprise produces four types of energy saving fluorescent lighting bulbs – 11, 15, 20 and 25 w.
UZKOR Lighting LLC, created by Uzeltehsanoat and South Korea’s Shinghwa Lighting has been launched in Navoi free industrial and economic zone.
The enterprise will produce 6 million energy saving gas-discharge compact lamps a year. After the enterprise will reach its design capacity, it will start to output 13.7 million units of lamps. The project cost is US$4.7 million. Half of products will be directed to exports.
According to some data, Uzbekistan’s demands for energy saving lamps makes up 50 million units a year.
