Uzbekistan attracts US$0.8bn FDI in 2010 – UNCTAD

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan entered to top ten recipients of Foreign Direct Investments inflows among transaction economies of the Southern-Eastern Europe and CIS in 2010, according to the World Investment Report 2011, subtitled "Non-equity modes of international production and development", published by UNCTAD.
According to UNCTAD, Uzbekistan attracted US$0.8 billion of foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2010 compared to US$0.7 billion in 2009. Uzbekistan is the eighth largest FDI recipient in the region in 2010.
Russia (US$41.2 billion in 2010), Kazakhstan (US$10 billion) and Ukraine (US$6.5 billion) claimed top three places on attracted volume of FDI. Turkmenistan was on the fourth place with the volume of FDI at US$2.1 billion.
Belarus (US$1.3 billion), Serbia (US$1.3 billion) and Albania (US$1.1 billion) claimed places from fifth to seventh. Montenegro was on the ninth place with the FDI volume of US$0.8 billion and Croatia – tenth with US$0.6 billion.
