Uzbek customs officers seize over 91,000 liters of alcohol products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan in cooperation with other law enforcement bodied prevented 926 attempts of illegal movement of over 91,000 liters of alcohol and alcohol products for 448 million soums in 2010.
Some 71 criminal cases and 815 cases on administrative violations were opened on these facts, the Uzbek State Customs Committee said.
Recently, customs officers prevented attempt to smuggle 650 liters of alcohol in Syrdarya region from neighbouring state. The case was revealed during special raid. Sh. Tillabekov was offender. He possessed 438 units of 0,5 liter PAT-bottles with alcohol. He does not have any documents to goods.
During customs clearance of passenger train Saratov-Urgench-Tashkent, customs officers seized 283 units of alcohol products for 2 million soums at Karakalpakiya railway station. The cargo was not declared.
Currently, investigations are underway on these cases.
