Turkey is ready to support Kyrgyz refugees – envoy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Turkey is following situation with refugees, who fled violence in southern Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, carefully, the Turkish Embassy in Tashkent said in a statement.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Uzbekistan Mehmet Sertac Sunmezay stated that Turkey is supporting Uzbekistan in such difficult times and at request of the Uzbek side, it is ready to supply humanitarian relief to Kyrgyz refugees.
The embassy recalled that Turkish Red Crescent Society supplied humanitarian relief to Andijan airport on 23 June. The aid included food, hygienic means and kitchen materials as requested by the Uzbek side. Total volume of the aid is 40 tonnes. Humanitarian aid distributed among refugees.
The statement added that Mehmet Sertac Sunmezay will visit refugee camp on 1 July to familiarize with local conditions and hold meetings with local authorities.
