Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 May, the National Olympic Committee of the country held an extraordinary reporting and election conference of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan. During the event, the preparation of the national team for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 was discussed, and changes were made to the composition of the Federation’s leadership.

The conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shahrullo Makhmudov, Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov, Chairman of the Council of Sports Veterans Bakhodir Makhsitov and senior officials of the country’s Athletics Federation and members of the Executive Committee.

The first to speak was the Secretary General of the Federation Kamoliddin Ruzimuhammedov and presented a report on the preparation of the Uzbekistan national team for the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024. Next, the main issues included in the agenda were discussed.

In particular, the resignation application of Mehriddin Abdullayev, who served as Chairman of the Federation, was considered at his own request and was satisfied by the delegates. Then, the Executive Committee of the organization nominated the chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, Bakhodir Sidikov, for the post of head of the Federation.

Expressing his opinion about the candidate, Oybek Kasimov noted that he has an excellent reputation as a person who loves sports, always supports the popularization of mass sports and a healthy lifestyle in the country, and has no doubt that Bakhodir Sidikov will be able to lead the development of athletics in our country in the future country to a new level. The conference participants unanimously approved the candidacy of Bakhodir Sidikov and he was elected to the post of chairman of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan.

Next, B. Sidikov himself spoke, noting that he will try with all his might to justify the trust placed in him and will make every effort to ensure that the athletes of the national team diligently prepare for the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 and perform well in these important competitions. In turn, Shakhrullo Makhmudov and Bakhodir Makhsitov congratulated Bakhodir Sidikov on his new appointment and expressed that they were ready to provide the necessary support.
